Florida Latinas Showcase Their Beauty and Brains During Miss Latina US and Miss Teen US Latina Pageants

Florida Latina will compete with Twenty-eight  Latinas from around the United States for the  crown of Miss Latina US and Miss Teen US Latina during the 2009 National Pageant Finals taking place in San Antonio for the first time. Representing Florida State, our state pageant delegates will arrive Friday, September 26 for preliminary competitions and activities, culminating on Sunday, September 28 with their presentations in national heritage dress, swimsuit, fashion wear and evening gown at the Jo Long Theater for the Performing Arts.

 

Orlando, FL September 23, 2008 – Miss Florida Latina 2008, Samaria Martinez and Miss Florida Teen Latina, Saydelis Rodriguez, will compete against 28 Latinas from all over the US for scholarship money, prizes and the chance of a lifetime to be crowned Miss Latina US and Miss Teen US Latina during the 2009 Miss Latina US Pageant from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Jo Long Theatre for the Performing Arts, 226 N. Hackberry.

 

Miss Latina US is the first national competition established in the country in 1983 exclusively for Latinas. It continues to be the only one whose winner advances to a world competition - the Miss Latin America of the World pageant hosted annually in different Latin American countries.

Among the nineteen women, ages 18 to 27, which will compete in the Miss Latina US Pageant, Florida’s own Samaria Martinez, who is 19 years of age, of Cuban heritage and a business student at Miami Dade University, will compete this year. Meanwhile, in the Miss Teen US Latina Pageant, among the 11 teenagers, ages 14 to 17, will participate, Florida’s representative is 16 year old Saydelis Rodriguez who is also of Cuban heritage, and a Criminal Justice and Law student at Leto High School whose hobbies include Flamenco Dancing, Color Guard, learning French and Sign Language.

 

The titleholder of the Miss Latina US pageant will represent the United States on a global stage in the Miss Latin America of the World pageant. "These pageants are a great way to celebrate the beauty, intelligence, culture, achievements and contributions that Latinos have made to the United States," said Florida’s director a former beauty queen and practicing attorney in Puerto Rico, Giancarla Sambo.

Alcalde de ORANGE COUNTY recibió a Candidatas a Miss FLORIDA LATINA

En un ambiente de alegría, autoridades del condado recibieron a 4 de las hermosas candidatas, quienes disfrutaron de consejos sobre competencias, perseverancia y la sabiduría del alcalde Richard Crotty.


Las representantes de la belleza Latina en el estado de la Florida, visitaron al alcalde del Condado de Orange, quien les dio la bienvenida y expresó que aunque el perdió su primera elección, el volvió a postularse y desde ese entones siempre ha sido victorioso. Crotty aconsejo a las jóvenes, que de no ganar la corona de Miss Florida Latina en esta ocasión, no pierdan la fe y sigan luchando por sus metas.


Horas más tarde, al salir de sus oficinas, las candidatas, acompañadas de la directora del certamen la Licenciada Giancarla Sambo, fueron el centro de atención de los empleados gubernamentales y publico allí presente quines se detuvieron a ver a las beldades, causando grata impresión en los presentes.

Aspirantes a la corona de Miss Florida Latina reciben talleres como parte de su ardua preparación.

Orlando, FL, 29 de julio de 2008: Ya comienza la carrera por las coronas del certamen Miss y Teen Florida Latina, el certamen mas prestigioso para Latinas en la Florida. Entre las varias actividades que tienen las aspirantes a la coronas se le sumaron varios talleres, que forman parte de la ardua preparación de las 30 aspirantes a las coronas estatales.

Las chicas han participado de seminarios junto con expertos de la belleza y certámenes. Las jóvenes tomaron cursos de desarrollo personal y autoestima a cargo de la ex-locutora, modelo, reina de belleza, empresaria y abogada, la Lcda. Giancarla Sambo, quien les enseño a como proponerse metas y establecer un plan de trabajo para alcanzarlas, al igual de como hablar en publico y proyección escénica.

Otra de las divertidas conferencias estuvo enmarcada en las diferentes tendencias del maquillaje y peinado, a cargo de la empresaria y estilista Isolina Vázquez, quien se ha dedicado por más de 25 años a la industria de la belleza y ha confeccionado los peinados de varias artistas de Hollywood y Latinoamérica. Ademas, la reina saliente Miss Florida Teen Latina 2007, Stephanie Gilbert, les impartio sobre sus experiencias del concurso del año pasado y técnicas de pasarela.

Todavía están abiertas las inscripciones para las chicas interesadas en participar de esta extraordinaria oportunidad. Los directores del certamen Miss Florida Latina estarán audicionando candidatas el viernes y sabado 8 y 9, y el 15 y 16 de agosto de 2008 en el Hilton Homewood Suites Hotel, 5893 American Way, de Orlando, Florida. Las jovenes interesadas deben ser de ascendencia Hispana, entre las edades de 14 a 17 años de edad para la división Teen y entre 18 a 27 para la división Miss; solteras, sin hijos biológicos y residentes o estudiantes del estado de la Florida. No hay requisitos de estatura o competencia de talento.
